Privacy policy

This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains what personal data tijnknapen.nl ("we", "us") collects when you use this website and its free tools, why we collect it, and the rights you have. The data controller is Tijn Knapen, reachable at thcknapen@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

Contact form. When you use the contact form we process your name, email address and message, so we can receive and reply to it. The message is stored in our database and emailed to us via Resend. We use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. Legal basis: your consent and our legitimate interest in answering your enquiry.

Using the tools. When you use the SoundCloud or YouTube downloaders we record how they are used, so we can see which tools are popular. By default this is anonymous: which tool, the format (MP3/MP4), the type of device, browser, operating system, language and the title of the requested media. Only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner do we additionally store your IP address, browser details (user agent), the referring page, a hashed session identifier and your country. Legal basis: your consent.

Cookies

• cookie_consent — remembers your cookie choice (kept ~1 year). Necessary.
• Session cookie — required for the basic operation of the site. Necessary.
• sc_download — a temporary cookie that detects when your SoundCloud download has started; removed straight away.
• Google reCAPTCHA — sets cookies on the contact page to fight spam.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for marketing.

Downloaded files

Files you download through the tools are created temporarily on the server and deleted automatically right after they are sent to you. We do not keep the downloaded media.

Sharing with third parties

We never sell your data. We rely on the following processors/services: Resend (sending email), Google reCAPTCHA (spam protection) and our hosting provider. The downloaders fetch content from YouTube and SoundCloud at your request.

How long we keep data

We keep contact messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and our records. Usage analytics are kept for as long as they remain useful for improving the tools.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to withdraw your consent, and to object to processing. Email thcknapen@gmail.com to exercise these rights. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time by deleting the cookies in your browser; the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top reflects the most recent change.
